The text of Shadows Over Sol is scheduled to be out of editing soon, the Quick-Start is doing well on DriveThruRPG and the open beta test is in its final weeks. Work on Shadows Over Sol continues to go well. Word from our editor is that the text is about half edited. If editing continues to go to schedule, we hope to have the full text back in our hands by the end of next month....
Progress on Shadows Over Sol continues at a breakneck pace. Reports from the second open playtest have been coming in, revisions have been made and we’re soon going to ramp up to get ready for the final round of playtesting. Most systems have reached a stable state in playtest, but the ship-to-ship combat system is going get a bit more attention and polish in this upcoming round....
Progress on Shadows Over Sol is coming right along. In the last week the first draft of the game was finished, a few more revisions to the rules were made and the open beta of the game was updated to its second phase. This draft of the game stands at around 110,909 words, and the second playtest has already been downloaded quite a few times. This version of the playtest includes our new vehicles, engineering and hacking systems. Feedback from the first playtest was invaluable for improving the game. We hope the feedback keeps coming....
Virtual tabletop (VTT) applications are great. I remember playing some great campaigns over OpenRPG back in the day, and run a campaign over MapTools for a bit. That said, VTTs also have their limitations, especially when it comes to trying to emulate the in-person RPG experience....
The initial closed beta test of Shadows Over Sol just came to an end, and our first open beta test is scheduled to begin in the next few days....
I’m currently running a Dragonlance Fifth Age SAGA campaign as my weekly game, and it’s a system I haven’t ran since high school. Running it has brought back a lot of old memories, and playing it again, there are many aspects of the design that I find I really enjoy. At the same time, there are also aspects of the design that—looked at with my 2014 design sensibilities—I think could use work....
