Hey, just for the record, not all of us Christians are like that. There's a reason I just got my B.A. And I love reading. And I just got 4 books at Barnes and Noble: “The Celts” (a history), Herodotus' “The Histories” (ancient Greek history, written in ancient Greece), Augustine's “City of God” (4th Century Christian thought), and a collection of H.P. Lovecraft stories. And most universities were founded by different Christian denominations, including pretty much all of the world-renouned ones (Harvard, Yale, Cambridge, etc). In fact, very few Christians think that God hates knowledge. The problem is, they're very vocal about it and tend to tell other Christians that tell them that they're wrong that anyone who loves knowledge is going to Hell, including Christians, because they obviously aren't Christian if they love knowledge. That is belief based on ignorance, which most Christians abhor.

It is actually an allusion to Hypatia of Alexandria; a female philosopher and librarian of whom it was said was murdered by a Christian uprising and flayed alive with either oyster shells or tiles (I have heard both).

Yeah, like I said, there are some like that out there. At times, there have even been entire movements that arose out of things like that (the Aryans, etc). But if you look at the Bible, these people are not reading it, or at least ignoring a good portion of it.

I check the curtain, but only to see if it's ok for me to shit in the tub.

If you are willing to shit in a tub, what would make it not okay to shit in a tub?

Make sure no one is in there. No humans, no critters, no stems, no sticks.

Sicky-icky-icky; whoowee.

I tend to piss people off a lot. It is almost like a hobby or something.
But thanks, Safa!
