Atomic Rockets Seal of Approval

For those more hardcore SF fans among us the Atomic Rockets website is a godsend. Knowing that Atomic Rockets absolutely LOVES the Expanse novels and TV series, and there being obvious parallels between SOS and The Expanse, I was wondering if Tab Creations had considered trying to get the Atomic Rockets Seal of Approval?

The site has different categories and Shadows Over Sol would come under the Tabletop Simulations section. Seven Worlds (a new SF setting in development for Savage Worlds) has already received a Seal of Approval and I think that it would be major kudos for Tab Creations if SOS got the seal as well.

For any other readers who are interested the webpage link is Atomic Rockets Seal of Approval

Terrific! Keeping my fingers crossed on this because I really think SOS deserves it.

Just thought I'd check in and ask if you had any response from Mr Chung?

Atomic Rockets Seal of Approval

For those who are interested I contacted Mr Chung, with Thorin's permission, and was able to put a proposal forward on behalf of Tab Creations. Thorin has been very supportive of this process and gave some excellent information on some of the more hard science aspects of the game.

As a result of the dialogue with Mr Chung I am now very excited to announce that Shadows Over Sol has been granted an Atomic Rockets Seal of Approval.

This is a pretty big coup and I want to take this opportunity to congratulate Thorin and the rest of Tab Creations on receiving this award

You can check out the award at the following link…

Atomic Rockets Seal of Approval

From what I've read in the history and the technology chapters, this is well-deserved. There are very few rpgs that manage to depict spacefaring in itself as a dangerous and often harrowing adventure, and SOS does so by sticking very close to scientific concepts of what can be achieved (colonies on solar system planets) and what cannot (like creating a completely autonomous recycling loop). Artificial gravity by rotation along with space station and starship designs taking that into account, nuclear fusion still “ten years away” … this is not a “anything is possible, so we need to find something to shoot up to create danger”; this is a future where every little step into space is earned by hard work and mistakes (or just bad luck) can be lethal.
