Hilariously Bad Movies

So I just got done watching the movie Heavy Metal. It was hilariously bad. Misogyny galore. Plots shallower than the spit residue from when you sneeze. Just… just terrible. Which kind of shouldn't have happened.

I mean, you had Ivan Reitman as producer (also produced Animal House, Stripes, Ghostbusters I & II, Beethoven, Dave… all the way through Hitchcock and he's still going strong!). You had John Candy, Eugene Levy, and Harold Ramis. How do you screw up a movie so bad with these talents?

I think it falls on the director and screenwriters. Gerald Potterton–who is he and why was he attached to the project? Under his direction, you have some of the worst performances of the stars' lives. Listening to them deliver their lines was onerous, and you could tell they weren't having fun with it either. And the writers? I have the feeling most of the script was written left-handed. Women weren't allowed to be clothed for more than a minute or so at a time. It seriously was like softcore porn. Poorly animated softcore porn. It was just awful. And the plots made about as much sense as a porn plot.

I just… wow. It was so awful I was laughing the whole way through.

Anyway, what are some hilariously bad movies you've seen lately? Forgotten_dreamer, I know you love watching terrible movies, so I look forward to hearing from you. Anyone else?

I second this emotion. Clearly I need to watch this, maybe that will be the subject of Bad Movie Monday tomorrow.

As for my suggestions… oh man, where to start. I finally watched the MST3K episode where they did “Manos:the Hands of Fate” and even the crew of the ol' Satellite of Love almost wasn't enough to make that movie watchable.

Birdemic 1&2 are both hilariously bad, I definitely recommend those. Hands down THE worst special effects I've ever seen, but mocking it was a lot of fun.

edit:
WTF I'm a My Little Pony now? o_O

I know Manos is one of the quintessential episodes of MST3K, but I don't like it for this very reason. It was so bad, I just wanted to gouge my own eyes out. The crew are the only reason I didn't stop watching, and I was still sorely tempted.

Same with the Rifftrax of the Star Wars Christmas Special. So bad, even guys making fun of it professionally make it barely tolerable.

I always thought Event Horizon was awful. With the spinning water bottle…

I recently watched The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec. It's set in the 1910's. In it the main character tames a pterodactyl with a feather boa, wakes up all the mummies in the Louve, discovers that one of the mummies is a nuclear physicist and brings her sister back to life with ancient Egyptian mind powers. Oh, and then she boards the Titanic.

You know, so basically it was Arth.
