MLB The Show 26's June 16 update isn't a headline-grabbing content drop, but it does fix a handful of issues that players actually run into day to day. Most of the changes are small on their own, but together they make the game feel a bit more stable—especially in Diamond Dynasty and Mini Seasons MLB Stubs.
What got fixed
The patch cleans up a mix of gameplay and presentation bugs.
In Exhibition, it addresses an issue where Daily Lineups could sometimes skip pitching decisions, which could throw off how certain games were set up. There's also a fix for a visual bug where the daily login reward timer could display incorrectly, plus an Xbox-specific issue where depth of field settings weren't showing as intended.
Diamond Dynasty sees a bit more attention. Mini Seasons had several fixes rolled in, including:
Logos not displaying properly in some cases
New UI showing series records during playoff runs
Uniform display issues affecting teams like the Orioles and Red Sox in multiple modes
A Solo Ranked presentation bug that incorrectly showed records as 0-0
None of these are massive gameplay changes, but they do clean up a lot of the rough edges that can make menus and modes feel inconsistent.
WBC Mini Seasons gets the key fix
The most important change in this update is tied to WBC Mini Seasons.
There was an exploit that allowed players to repeatedly simulate the Championship Game and still collect rewards without actually completing the full run. That obviously broke the intended progression loop, especially for anyone playing the mode normally.
This patch closes that loophole and restores the proper Championship reward structure after the June 16 content refresh. It basically puts the mode back in line with how it was meant to work—play through the bracket, earn the rewards at the end.
For a lot of players, this is the part of the update that actually matters.
Player likeness updates
There's also a batch of roster likeness updates included in the patch. Players like Roman Anthony, Gerrit Cole, William Contreras, Heliot Ramos, and Christian Walker have updated appearances.
These changes don't affect gameplay, but they do help keep the presentation closer to real-world MLB rosters. If you spend a lot of time in Diamond Dynasty or Franchise, these small visual updates add up and make the game feel more current.
Why this update matters
On the surface, this is a “fixes and polish” patch. But most of what it touches is stuff players see constantly—menus, rewards, visuals, and mode structure.
That's why it matters more than it might first appear. When Diamond Dynasty or Mini Seasons has bugs, it doesn't just annoy you once—it affects every session. Clean UI, correct progression, and stable reward systems make the grind feel a lot smoother.
The WBC Mini Seasons fix is also important for fairness. Exploits like that can quietly undermine progression if they stick around too long, so closing it helps keep rewards tied to actual gameplay again.
Should you play now?
If you've been on the fence about coming back, this is a decent moment to jump in again. The update doesn't add new content, but it does remove some of the friction that builds up over time.
Mini Seasons in particular is in a better state now that the reward path is properly functioning again, and Diamond Dynasty menus and visuals are a bit cleaner overall.
