Expeller pressed refers to a method of extracting oil from seeds, nuts, or other plant materials using mechanical pressure. An expeller press uses a rotating screw or pressing mechanism to crush and squeeze the material, separating the oil without relying primarily on chemical solvents. Expeller Pressed is commonly used to produce oils such as olive, coconut, avocado, sunflower, sesame, and other specialty oils. Depending on the material and processing conditions, the pressing process may generate some heat through friction, so “expeller pressed” does not automatically mean cold pressed.
