Follow-Ups Don’t Have to Be Annoying

Sending another email doesn’t mean you’re annoying. Or desperate. People are busy, inboxes are war zones, sometimes they don’t respond because they forgot—boom, your job is to bump them. The trick is not to sound like you’re groveling or passive-aggressively guilt-tripping them for ignoring you. Maybe you send a funny gif. Maybe you rewrite the whole thing with zero reference to the last one. There’s no sacred strategy. Just don’t be boring, that’s the only sin. Go weird, go light, go fast. I saw a follow-up template on https://andrewlinksmith.com that opened with “Don’t worry, this is not a pitch email. It’s barely even an email.” Brilliant.
