Welcome to the second entry in our Designer Diary series.
We have been incredibly busy preparing for the imminent digital release of Shadows Over Sol 2e. If all goes according to plan, the digital files should be going out to backers—and to our Patrons Supreme—sometime around the end of this month or the first week of March.
We also held our semi-annual company planning meeting a couple of weeks ago, which resulted in some exciting developments. As always, we want you, our faithful backers, to be the first to hear what is coming down the pipe.
Our next major crowdfunding project will also be the first big expansion for Shadows Over Sol 2e, with a target launch window sometime this fall. Tentatively titled Shadows Over Sol 2e: Red Planet, this volume is expected to clock in at around 160 pages. It will feature detailed lore on Mars, covering the struggles of the Dui Wu Ya Conflict, along with details on all the colonies and major NPCs. For players, it will offer a host of new options, including minor subcultures and unusual genelines. Finally, the book will include a variety of scenarios set on the Red Planet—some updated from the first edition and some entirely new—along with guidelines on how to link them together into a loose campaign.
On the design front, we plan to spend this year developing and playtesting an expanded powers system for Saga Machine. While this mechanics work is unlikely to see public release in any new games during 2026, we hope that it lays a foundation that will set the stage for a completely new game line release in 2027.
Regarding this Patreon, you can expect continued support for Age of Ambition, alongside a ramp-up of new releases for Shadows Over Sol 2e. For the time being, we consider both Against the Dark Yogi and Dime Adventures to be "completed game lines," so they are unlikely to see new content in the foreseeable future.
As far as other development goes, we have a new "mystery box fantasy" game slowly simmering in the background. We have also bandied about ideas regarding either updating Against the Dark Yogi with a second edition, or moving forward with our in-house supers setting, Masked Metropolis. While any of these projects may see development work in 2026, publication isn't expected this year.
