The following house rules are in effect for Mongoose Traveller.

Characteristic Generation

To generate characteristic scores, roll 2d four times. Then throw out one of the four numbers that leaves you with. After that, subtract the sum of the remaining three numbers from 42 (the average characteristic score total) and divide the remainder as evenly as possible into three numbers. This should leave you a set of six numbers--three that were rolled and three that were determined by math. Assign these to your characteristics as you see it.

An Early Start

Characters from primitive worlds have the option of starting their adult career at 14 instead of 18. This grants them an extra term before aging rolls kick in, but halve their Education characteristic. Additionally, that first term Social Status rolls are made with a -2 DM, and they are not eligible for the Draft, enlistment rolls in Imperial services are at a -2 DM and Psi tests are at +1.

Ship Shares

Anytime you would be granted ship shares in a particular type of ship, you instead are granted two generic ship shares.
