Tabula Rasa MMO

The header designer of the Ultima series, UO and bunch of the other designers and producers have been working on a new MMO called Tabula Rasa the last few years. http://www.playtr.com It looks pretty awesome. Going to release in the fall.

I think I may try playing it.

Doesn't "tabula rasa" mean "blank slate"? Does anyone else think that makes it sound a bit, ummm... boring?

I think the game looks interesting too. Might try it at some point.

From what I understand the premise is that aliens came to Earth effectively overwhelmed the planet. However, there were wormholes which led to other planets leading to players gaining alien technology as they fight against the aliens. There might be other races, and skill developement system looks the most interesting part of the game. A lot of skill trees, highly customizable, and I think skill points might be swap-able so you aren't locked in. There is a magic equivalent system as well.

Seems to focus on a culmination of mmorpg concepts combined with fps games. Videos of combat looked unique and I found to be interesting. Have to check out the site to see if there is more info.

It was called "Blank Slate" because it was humanity's second chance at life. Our home planet is destroyed and the remainder of our race is out in space with a blank slate.
It seemed like a great idea, but the game was kinda lacking...Too much like a shooter. If all you do is go around shooting...it gets boring eventually. No offense to the masses that seem to love all the Doom-type games.
